what, if any, advantage is there to using the blendmount over the suction cups? just keeping the windshield clean? is one position better than the other for accuracy? living in the city there isn't much need to keep a v1 up all the time so i'd likely just be using it for weekend trips.

Had a similar experience. Test drove a 335D and was all set to talk numbers but told the salesman my heart was really thinking about a 225i. He found one to test drive and a few hours later order placed. The same EBII colour as yours. Delivery is early July.

I think I blew the rear mirror fuse during my install. I had it working but then I must have had metal to metal contact or something when squeezing all the wires back into the housing and I can't get the mirror power back.
Anyone know which fuse it is?
The pics on the diagram for the two fuse boxes isn't too easy to decipher what th rear view mirror is

I did this install on my M235 when it came in. Having done it on my X5 and 550, it was a snap, literally taking 15 minutes. Is is definitely the way to go. I have a blendmount on my 550, and one on order for the M235i. That, combined with the mirror tap makes for the cleanest install IMO. I have not used the "generic" cords before, but i will say they have greatly improved the "brand name" version from the first one I bought 2 years ago, in that they have changed the pins to be much easier to fit in the wire housing.

Lastly, I personally like going with the 20" cord vs. the 12". There is plenty of room to hide any excess in the mirror housing, and I just find it easier to work with the extra cord length.

In my experience, the suction cups tend to not hold well, and I find they fall off the windshield...plus they leave marks on the windshield as well. As far as positioning, I would prefer to have the cleaner line of sight to rear facing threats, which would be achieved from a middle of the windshield mount. Lastly, it is a lot cleaner (this is obviously IMO).
