M235i: Ricer or Luxury Coupe?
Hey guys. With most of this forum devoted to "mods" I'm starting to think our beloved M235i may have an identity crisis looming. Is it a ricer or luxury coupe that is fun to drive and take to the track every now and then? Your thoughts?

How about neither?
To me, the M235i is a sports car, pure and simple. Sure, it may not have the sleek shape of a Cayman or Evora, but if you look at the numbers, they're pretty comparable--and usually in the M235i's favor. |

That is fair. Actually that's what I meant when I typed luxury coupe.

I don't really think of luxury in a BMW until you reach the 5 or 7 series. BMW in my thinking is more sports than luxury. Conversely MB and Audi to me is more luxury than sports. But that's just my opinion. Now back to your question the M235i is a sports coupe that pretty much beats everything in it's class. Ricey is more Honda civic, Acura etc. not saying it's a bad thing as it's all about taste but the M235i even with slight mods is not Ricey.

It falls short on luxury compared to other cars in the BMW lineup, but you could make it more luxurious depending on the options you pick (I suppose).
Maybe the best definition is "premium sports coupe." |

Its a german ricer
I dont want to pay $67000 big ones for a M4 but also dont want to look like a high school kid with a brz or sti (no offense, they're great cars). The m235 is a reasonable priced fun car

Well said.
I have no plans of any performance mods on the car. The car is awesome for what it is. To me, it is a smooth daily driver that is comfortable, full of lots of the latest tech (got mine fully loaded) and is fairly refined/luxurious. It also has a nice amount of power behind it for spirited driving. |

You can rice it up. Some guy did a black vinyl wrap of his mirrors and roof.
But to me it is a sports coupe. |

BMW M3 also is a school kid's car, only difference is, that kid had a silver spoon.
