Stage 2 Turbo Choices - Please Comment
My last mod will be a big turbo. After some research, it seems that the Pure stage 2 is the most popular. However, I've hear that there have been a few warranty claims. To keep options open, please let me know your thoughts on the competition (I ruled out Dinan):
Vargas Stage 2 http://performance.vargasturbo.com/v...e-on-the-dyno/ STEAM Stage STX 62 http://steamturbochargers.com/index....m-bmw-n55.html Hexon Autowerks HYBRID 2 RR540 http://www.hexonautowerks.com/produc...?pg=&PdSearch= |

I've heard not so great things about Vargas, the Steam turbo maxes out at 510hp and I haven't heard anything about the Hexon.

Did you buy the Pure through Enzo or did you buy it elsewhere and had it installed and tuned at Enzo? I wasn't able to confirm, but does Pure rebuild stock cores or does it use a new turbo altogether? |

Pure changes the stock core internals so it's like new really. |

Still sounds like Pure Stage 2 is IT. Anyone have a different setup?

I was looking at the Steam setup too. For 1300 bucks and no core trade that's a pretty good deal. Also that states up to 90+hp gains depending on mods. That's 1200 cheaper than a stage 2 Pure. Steam is also big in the Subaru world and those guys know modding.
http://steamturbochargers.com/index....r-upgrade.html The flip side is Pure is proven on our platform and seem to have great customer service. I emailed Steam a couple of weeks ago and haven't heard anything yet. Maybe I'll call them and see how that goes. The hexon turbo I've never heard of either.

But I digress. I'm looking for the most reliable and then best value turbo. So far it seems like Pure is it for our car. But definitely interested in hearing how they respond to you. I miss the availability of the FP turbos. They made some serious stuff. |

Anthony235 definitely lower than the Pure Stage 2. I think that's Steam stage 1. Just saying for 1300 bucks and no core trade that's more power than PTS1. PTS2 to gain full potential of the turbo you also have to include fuel upgrades like PI or TBI, lpfp and probably hpfp. Correct me if I'm wrong in how to maximize your PTS2. At least with the Steam turbo a nice tune will get you 90 extra horses across the rpm range on otherwise stock hardware.

F22 M235i - JB4 - ER downpipes - ER chargepipes - AFe intake - Wagner EVO II Intercooler - BMS Meth injection So if I bolt on the Pure Stage 2, my whp jumps from ~375 to 500-520whp, on 93 and meth? No LPFP or PI upgrade? |

I think to get those figures the LPFP and TBI/PI are
going to be required, correct? I am sure most running Stage 2 have at a min. upgraded to the LPFP for better Fueling flow to keep up with that beast of a turbo, correct? Last edited by H3G0N3_F22; 04-27-2016 at 04:52 AM.. |

You only need LPFP and TBI/PI if starting to use E85 mixtures.
