Hey Guys,

Leaning toward getting the LSD since 265s are the widest tires we can run and the car is just useless at full throttle under 50-60mph.

I've decided on the M Performance LSD since I can get it dealer installed and covered under warranty. Plus, it's the cheapest.

The best prices I've found are below:

I think that's very competitive. how many man hours will it take?

For reference, I quoted a dealer installation of M Performance LSD with David fom BMW in california and I think he said something like $3,270 fitted

I also looked up on wavetrac in an independent shop and i think it would take like 600 bucks to install (5+ hours I think), plus having a downtime of the car for 2 days cuz they would have to do the "pumpkin" work at another shop.Total was like 2100 if I remember well.

Check with your dealership if you can purchase the mperf lsd from a seperate retailer and still get warranty if installed at the dealership. I asked 2 different dealerships about this and both told me the lsd would have to PURCHASED and installed by a bmw dealership (any bmw dealership) in order for it to be covered under warranty.

So in other words, according to both dealerships i asked, purchase lsd from joeschmoe bmw and install at joeschmoe bmw or janedane bmw....covered under warranty. Purchase m-perf lsd from 'getbmwparts' and install at janedane bmw...NOT covered under warranty.

So again, i would definitely ask. Maybe both the dealerships i asked (turnserville and mt laurel) are pulling my leg, who knows. Good luck!

EDIT: Would like to clarify that if this is verified true, im speaking to the warranty that would cover a failure caused by the lsd. I believe the warranty for the lsd part itself is valid no matter where you purchase the lsd.

getbmwparts is actually Tischer BMW Silver Spring, Maryland...so yes, covered

Friggin' score! Lol. I had no idea that was a dealership. Paying almost a grand more at a regular dealership has held me back from getting a diff as well. Thanx for the clarification!
