Also, everyone note how the flash tune was not only able to give me 30 more hp and 60 more tq over the JB4. But it did so with a richer AFR and less boost!

And yes, Alex said that my ecu can adapt to ethanol. We will be playing around more with this in the coming weeks! let me know brotha, maybe we can see meet up at a car meet.

Here is a log of my current flash tune. I'll be posting my old jb4 91 octane logs too. You will notice that my AFR are leaner, avg ign is poor, my throttle is struggling to stay open, and I'm boosting more despite making less power.

Compare the flash tune log above with this JB4 log here. Same fuel and mods (minus IC).
http://datazap.me/u/sc67065/jb4-map-...-4-5-6-9-12-18 Notice how without the flash tune my car has leaner afr, poorer timing, more throttle closures and more boost while making significantly less power (if you see the dyno chart in the OP).

Flash tunes are smoother no doubt. Not to discredit the jb4 because Terry does have some nice backend flashes that compliment the jb4 on the n54. Not sure if he has backend flashes for the n55 or otherwise.

Terry has none for the N55 sadly, it would be a game changer if he did. But there are a few pioneers of stacking flash tunes as a BEF (from places like MP, ENZO, ACF).

I've ran 17 psi quite a bit before but with E85 mix.
I was just surprised to see the ECU target 16-17psi on its own on such low octane fuel. My AFRs are still on the richer side at low 12, my motor should be on a good path

You're running pretty rich for the N55 platform too. That timing would make me nervous. It would be even more pronounced in higher gears. FPL and FPH look good though. Just my opinion based on my limited experience with tuning my JB4. |

I believe the stock tmap sensor is limited to 20psi, but you're right he's only hitting like 14psi max.

I'll be hitting more boost soon with some E85 tuning. Hope to be at 407/475 again. Here's what an E40 log looks like if you're curious. I'm having major HPFP issues running the car like this though and it's too lean for me. I'll be getting a new flash to help accommodate for this boost curve and fuel. This is the only log where my HPFP barely got by. http://www.datazap.me/u/sc67065/log-...a=1-2-4-5-9-10 Quote:
Also I prefer to run my car the richer side. Edit: I think I see what you mean with timing. I guess that's what happens when one of plugs for valvetronic comes loose lol

You can't adjust boost with JB4 stacked on it? I've read the same thing about the FPL and N55. There does seem to be some correlation though, because I see it change as expected when I adjust my boost/FOL. Anyone know? Your timing looks much better in that last log. Yes, your FPH is at the limit it appears. I would lower your ethanol a little. Really you should log in 4th or even 5th. I think 5th is the best. Short <3rd gear runs can hide a lot of possible issues. Just my opinions. I'm still learning Jb4. Last edited by Anthony235; 04-11-2016 at 03:41 PM.. |
