Sound, pops and burble. Stock exhaust + decat VS....MPE + stock cat

Morning all,

I posted this on a UK forum, but thought I would also ask here as the audience is far larger!

I have a 235i and am wanting more of the lovely pops and burbles. Im wondering which route is the best to achieve this

1) Stock exhaust + de-cat downpipe
or
2) MPE exhaust + stock downpipe

I know the de-cat downpipe makes a bit more power (how much roughly?) but in terms of sound alone.... which option would sound better?

Thanks in advance

Get the Downpipe. You get way more in both sound and performance without spending nearly the money as MPE.

You will get the most power gains with an aftermarket downpipe. The N55 sounds so great that we can't get it loud enough, in our opinion at least.

Catted downpipes offer more turbo noise and greater volume but may not give you and increase of crackles and burbles to the level you are looking for. Catless downpipes will let all the aggression through as long as you can tolerate a CEL or a tune.

Alternatively, we have a Muffler Bypass Exhaust which is a straight pipe rear section to take things to the next level if a mean sounding exhaust is a priority. If you have any questions, we'd be happy to chat with you.

MPE only, 3k RPM blip produces plenty of crackles!

Hi mate,

The cheapest route and best imho, is getting a vrsf dp, qith stock exhaust. Sound is amazing !!!
I read from other folks dyno's that it yields, 12whp and 20wtq.

Hard to pass on really !

I installed my M Performance exhaust yesterday. Even when not broken in, it makes a lot of popcorn, especially if you have a 6MT.
