Here's the cool thing about the Dinan... if a check engine comes on there's no hassle at the dealer (assuming it's a dinan bmw dealer). I've heard others complain of CEL (not sure what brands they were using).

The CEL debacle is really inconsistent and a largely inflated subject on the forums since most threads are "problem" threads. It's unfortunately the luck of the draw on the intakes but most people are OK.

Get the Dinan intake and call it a day.
No issues, great sound from the intake and added performance and backing of Dinan's warranty.

Another option would be to to take a look at the vendor section and get the intake from a vendor that offers money back guarantee. If you get the CEL, you can return the intake with no fees.

I have the Afe and have no complaints so far. Didn't notice any power gain but the sound is great.

No power gains unless your are FBO and even then it is barely noticeable ( 5 -10 whp) but it sure sounds great

Here is a review by Mike (not me, a customer)

Got this Injen Short Ram Air in anodized black and wasn't disappointed. Packaging was very good and came with all components and instructions needed. Only issue I had was that one of the bolts that secures the ram tube to the metal enclosure is hard to reach and required me to disconnect the upper radiator hose to get enough hand clearance to get a ratchet on it to secure it in place. Other than that the install took only about 30 minutes. The sound of this pipe is amazing and definitely is audible even when inside the car with windows up. If you prefer engine noise to a minimum then don't get this product and stick with the OEM airbox.

I absolutely love my Injen intake. The sound is amazing and I like being able to "play" it like a pipe organ with the throttle. I can't imagine not having it. No issues with any CEL's like some people have reported. The only thing I've noticed is that when I downshift the car does not like it if I don't pick a lower gear. I now downshift into 2nd for turns that I used to come out of in 3rd. I've only noticed it a few times, but enough times to change my habits.

I'd say go for it. Worst case scenario you end up selling it to someone else in little to no time at all. I'm honestly worried about getting an exhaust that may overpower the sound of the intake. It's that good. I took the car into a parking garage last night just to hear the intake. Amazing.

lol, my name is Mike as well and I got the anodized black intake. That bolt did cause some problems, but not as much as the freaking plastic cover to some wire harness. I was ready to just chunk it. It's a good thing I workout because it took a lot of steady force to get that thing kinda sorta back in place. :/

If You have some Good coin to spend on an intake and are set on spending the money on an intake.. Id Look into AWE... their intake looks very nice.
I havent heard of any good or bad issues with their intakes tho, so take it for what it's worth.

+1 on the Injen intake. I've had mine on for a few months now and absolutely love it. My girlfriend and I co-drove the car at an autocross last weekend and you could hear the turbo spooling and blowoff across the course. Really neat and had alot of people comment on it.

I had the CEL come on about a week after install. I'm convinced that it's the MAF not liking the oiled filters. All I did to remedy it was take of the MAF Sensor and clean it with some CRC MAF cleaner. That fixed the problem and I haven't seen the light since.

I believe it's a dry filter. That's what it says on the website atleast.

You're right my apologies. I'm confusing it for the one I bought for the Mustang a while back.
