Wow, what a difference this makes. I took out the radio fuse and the car sounds so much better. I can't believe how much nicer it is w/o the active sound engaged. When you try it back to back you can see how obtrusive ASD is. Now I have no droning at 2500 rpm, just real exhaust sound. It's naturally louder when I am on it and quiet when I am taking it easy.. I think anyone who has installed a performance exhaust will be very interested to experiment with this idea. Thanks for the fantastic write up, you have done a good deed!
I am emailing TechnicPnP right now.

Install complete!

Well I installed my Active Sound bypass today and it is wonderful. The car is so much quieter and much more pleasant to drive. I do have an AWE touring exhaust so I do get that beautiful 6 cylinder wail at high rpms and find myself using the manual paddle shift almost all the time just to hear it. The install on the 'vert is way different than on the coupe, depicted by Zooks527, as the trunk liner has a few more things to disassemble but i managed to get it all out and back together agin in about an hour and a half. It was well worth it and I think anybody with a performance exhaust of any kind might really be happy with the natural, non artificial sounds this car makes.

Just wondering, why would anyone buy this bypass when you can buy a cable off ebay for like 15 bucks and do it that way? Not to mention all the customizing you can do.

Not everyone fells like changing parameter settings in the ECU, nor use a method that needs to be redone any time the dealer does a software upgrade to your car.

ASD cable

Hi:
I've submitted two messages through the under construction webpage. Is there any other way to contact him about ordering the bypass harness?

I got a fairly quick response through this page: http://technicpnp.com/contact.html

Not sure if there's any difference from the UC page (looks the same), but worth a shot.

I agree, but not everyone feels comfortable programming the car's computer. I plan on doing a coding session myself. In the mean time, I changed the Sport Mode setting to chassis only and flip the shifter to the left. Then I have Sport Mode with Comfort Mode cabin sound. The only problem is that if you flick the paddle shifter (manually shift), it stays in manual mode. I usually use manual mode with Sport+ Mode, it is a lot more fun. I guess this method only works with the 8spd though.

My question to the people that have turned of ASD completely off is how much sound does it produce in Comfort Mode compared to off. I don't hear much at all in Comfort mode. I open the windows and sun roof and it seems like real exhaust sound is what I'm hearing inside the cabin in Comfort Mode. Yes, I'm lazy not doing the test myself...but why reinvent the wheel.

Everybody has a different idea of what sounds good.
You have to try it to believe it, just pull the radio fuse and see for yourself. Active sound is FAKE and just drones on for me. I am happy it is gone.

Ok, I believe you, but can you really hear it that much in comfort mode?

Spend 8 hours driving from MA to DC. You'll hear it, regardless of mode.

Thank you, I'm going to disable it and see how it goes.
