M235i - cup holder inserts ?

Did they stop including them in 2015 M235is ?

I got mine without the inserts, and went back to the dealer to claim them today.

Of course, the sales manager goes "Oh, they're not standard anymore in 2015."

Sure, the American Medical Association complained to the Bavarians that too many BMW owners with cup holder inserts were dying of brain cancer, because the ultra high tech inserts emit invisible carcinogens, so BMW just stopped including them in 2015. Right ?

Umm ... wrong.

By this time, even the individual neurons in my body have been trained to detect these dealership people lying. So, I knew right then n there, that he was BSing me

He goes, "Oh, we'll order them for you. On us. Don't worry."

What're you gonna do !

Yea I'm pretty sure they are still included but at least they are ordering them for you. I've seen your other posts and damn I'm sorry you had to go through such a horrible experience ordering your car! At least you have it now to enjoy!!!! Congrats.

It seems like a lot of people talk about the absence or presence of these with no discernible pattern with regards to model year. This one may not just be your dealer.

Cup Holders

I was reading this a couple of weeks or so ago--seems to be an ongoing conversation from last summer until now.

Cup holder inserts WERE discontinued for the 2015 model year, unfortunately.

Thanks. Can you point me to where it says that, please ? I'd appreciate it.

Thanks ! In this case, it's nice to be proven wrong

I guess I've become really cynical as a result of how I've been treated by my dealer (and all car dealers, ever)

Heck, yeah! I'm with you InlineSixTwinScroll! It's a matter of principle. The manufacturer deletes the cup holder inserts and the little cute M badges on the fenders. And the audacity not to pass on the savings to the consumers.

On the bright side, I've got some land south of here. BMW can build another facility there. Just needs some TLC, the occasional mating gator and some flooding. I'll even throw a bridge or two with the deal.

It seems like a lot of people just tossed the inserts, at least in the US. I wonder if they track that stuff or if it's just a cost cutting response to less favorable exchange rates. I think the M badges went because the M fanboys were howling and the magazines made fun of the sheer number of M badges on the car. What bugs me is excluding the extra power outlet by the glovebox while other countries get it.

Supernaut: it has nothing to do with anything but a way to increase the bottom-line. Why the badge in RoW? Etc.

Up until the introduction of the new 2er sport coupes, BMW was driving down a slippery slope of eco-geo-politico bland cars. Days of the M-Powered cars that gave that alphabet the motor sports recognition were numbered. Or should I say "numb."

I'm hopeful that Bayerische Motoren Werke AG continues on the path of giving us motoring enthusiasts products like the M235i for years to come. It's alright to make bread and butter, cookie-cutter cars for RoW but don't forsake the performance side of the house, and we'll keep flying the flag high and buying the cars as quickly as they're produced.

It's not about the $8, it's about the principle, like gaijin said. If they really just forgot to include those in my car, why couldn't they say "Sorry sir, we must have missed it. Don't worry, we'll fix it for you." instead of some BS like "Discontinued" ?

Granted, it looks like they were, in fact, discontinued, so in this case, I guess I was wrong

I want them because they will be very useful to me. I hardly ever store cups in the cupholders, so I could put my keys n stuff there.

Well put, Mr. Mess Cook.

What does "RoW" mean ?

I know about what people call the ashtray, and it is so small, the only thing that could fit in there is my chapstick. What is this conversion ?

"It's alright to make bread and butter, cookie-cutter cars for RoW but don't forsake the performance side of the house"

Ok, it must be my IQ. Why am I not understanding this statement ?

I thought that it's the USA that's the prime reason for the ocean liner sized boring luxury cars they've been making of late. In Europe, as far as I know, boats aren't popular on the roads. They prefer hatchbacks.

So, that said, cookie-cutter cars aren't really for RoW, are they ? They're meant for the average BMW driver in the US who doesn't care about performance.

Right ? What did I miss ?

BMW biggest market has been and is China. The US market showed 3.9% growth compared to 13.8% in Asia for 2014.

I was generalizing the term RoW since the sales in China, Korea, and Japan have continued to show a marked increase over the past couple of years.
