about to get my first BMW. now questions.
I currently drive an 08 accord and this is my first car.
I'm about to lease my first BMW and i'm looking at 228i, and have a couple of questions. please bear with me as i may have a lot of questions xP. 1) at the dealer, what fee should i expect other than the price i negotiate on and the tax? and how much are they each? (i live in california which means i'll pay 7.5% tax) 2) should the above tax be added on negotiated price of the vehicle or everything combined? (destination charge, etc) 3)the link to the build i want is below. My 228i Coupe 2.0 liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder Rear-wheel drive See all standard features BASE MSRP$32,850 Alpine White$0 Black SensaTec$0 Aluminum Hexagon Trim with Estoril Blue matte highlight$0 Driver Assistance Package$950 Lighting Package$900 M Sport Package$2,500 Harman Kardon surround sound system$875 Destination & Handling:$995 Total MSRP as Built$39,070 4)i'm currently trying to target 9~10% off MSRP. however, the exact configuration cannot be found anywhere in the states which means i'll have to order the vehicle. is 9~10% off MSRP a target? 5)i'm also targeting 0.00086MF (standard 0.00135 - .00049 after MSDs) is this a good start? 6)lastly, BMW has just announced that 228i will be upgraded to 230i. should i wait for the upgrade or try to get the dealer to give me a good deal on 228i? thanks for reading my long list of questions. since it will be my first BMW i want everything to go as i plan. Well you seemed to have done your homework. Nice build as well. I would say you are definitely on the right track. Generally people negotiate the price of the vehicle then add in tax, title, license afterwards. I would also post the terms of the lease, so we can just make sure there isn't any hidden fees such as a marked up acquisition fee.
I would say 9 to 10% off would be a pretty good deal. Ordered car shouldn't have much bearing on the deal but often dealers will try to sell you something they have on the lot to realize the sale immediately. As for 228i versus 230i, it's hard to say. The HP bump isn't much and I'm not sure many people have driven the new 4 banger. Personally I would wait, but if you can get a good deal on a 228i it could be worth jumping on. |

That's one of the the reasons I leased a 16' instead of waiting for the M240i.

Nice build. You will love the car.
Sales tax on a lease is just paid on your monthly lease payment. If your sales tax is 7.5%, just add that to the monthly lease you are approved for. |
