Bottom line: they're both great cars.

I liken the CLA45 as an Audi RS3 that isn't made of vanilla pudding; its AWD and chassis combo is set up to be very neutral on the road and track, plus it doesn't look like a generic bar of soap.

I think the M235i will appease the RWD crowd very well. It's a rounded package that represents the roundel's core values without any frivolities.

They've made plenty of comparisons between the A45 and M135i so I think we have a fair idea of what to expect when it comes to these two.

When I look at the CLA from the sides, all I see is a dog getting ready to hunch and drop a deuce.

There was/is an Audi (A5/A7??) that also generates the same thoughts...

+1 although I do find the M235i vs CLA45 AMG to be slightly different. It seems that BMW has made the M235i better than the M135i (see it has variable sport steering and M adaptive suspension standard). Reviews I have read so far are not as impressed with the CLA45 AMG than with the A45 AMG.

CLA out of boost is going to be a pig with the 4cyl I'd stay away from it. 235 will be the better car and alot more agile even though it's not a real M car.

I don't know, this doesn't look too bad.

I'm a die hard BMW fan, but I must admit the CLA is a nice small car. It's everywhere here in LA, they are selling the hell outta them.

Other than the nice AMG seats, the BMW interior is much nicer than the Merc CLA, #1 thing Mercedes did wrong was the NAV screen, what where they thinking

Im pretty sure that engine it's maxed out, where the m235 will have some additional room for improvement. I must say, though, 355 outta of 4 banger it's quite a bit.

And I think most of us will agree that BMW is not running out of ideas but has brought incredible new design to the market, including that ugly 3GT that as soon as you throw a M-sport it actually looks good. I can't wait that GC.

With FI there is almost no limit on power.

BMW 1986, 4 cylinders 1.5 liter and 1400 hp
A bit pricier but still.

the 235 will be tune-able, the CLA is pretty much maxed out.

The CLA it too fugly to consider! You'd have to reverse it into the garage so that you'd never see the back of it. What on earth were they thinking.

The backend of the 235 is nothing to be too impressed about either.
