Have to agree with BEM-S4. If you're at all interested in the Blue M235i, make them a low-ball offer and see what happens. If it's just "Heated Seats" then no steering wheel heating, but if its "Cold Weather Package" then the steering wheel is heated. I was able to get $10K off MSRP on my M235i but it had some MP options and was MT so not something your average BMW shopper would be looking for. Don't forget the extra year of service that would cost and additional $2K on a 2017.
As a counter point, while the M235i has a bit more oomf than the 230i, it also doesn't return the MPG that you have said you are looking for. As I said I have the MT in RWD vs the AT in XDrive, but I am averaging 23 mpg on my daily commute which includes expressway and surface streets. I'm taking my first long trip in it this weekend (looking forward to spending more than a half an hour at a time in it) so we'll see what kind of extended highway mileage I can get. Only you can decide your priorities and what's best for you. Best of luck getting what you want

On Edit - I don't know what I'm thinking.. because I'm going to need Driver Assit Plus too. My plan is to pass this car down to my daughter when she turns 16. And the way teens are these days, there's no way I'm going to pass a sub 6 second car that doesn't have some kind of collision avoidance. .... Maybe I should rethink this and get her a Subaru Crosstrek like I was originally planning... and keep the Bimmer for myself.
================== I think it had a rating of 30 hwy mpg, which is fine by me. Maybe I need to speak with them about it... But I do have a question when compared to the M240i. I understand there's a slight difference in the engine, but are there other differences? Does it come with ID5 or something else? Basically I'm wondering what features I'd lose if I went with a '16 vs '17. Thanks!

I stopped by the dealer today and ta da... they got allocation for me and got my order in... I now have a production number on the 230ix ragtop.. Was told scheduled build week is the 1st week of April. I guess I need to get on the BMW site so I can track it.
I feel like a kid waiting to turn 16 to get a drivers license.

Website tracking is pretty worthless if memory serves. 800 number is better.

Thanks!! I just plugged the production number in and it's still got the original options before my dealer modified it.. I'm guessing by Monday, I should see the changes on their site.. Once a VIN is assigned, I'll take your suggestion and call the 800#.... like 50 times a day. Hahahaha

I called the number to see what if anything they had on my order. I got the automated unit telling me that my vehicle is ordered for production with no scheduled production date set yet.
I wonder how accurate the number is because that my dealer told me it has a production week of the 1st week of April.. I wish BMW .. all auto manufactures .. would just setup a website for customer orders that gave the same info that dealerships could see.. for their specific order that is... Why does BMW offer MYBMW to track, then make it impossible to use (Can't add the order because it's requiring data I can't give it because I don't actually own the car)? I also hear it's delayed like 48hrs.. Sheesh..

Just came across this thread today. Congrats on your build. I do the Aberdeen to Newark daily commute in a 228xi MSport. You'll love it. Getting about 30mpg on the ride. Rt 40, I95, Rt 4.
Enjoy, Mike |
