The lists doesn't usually mention specific models if they are not new model introductions, they are just series based otherwise. So that means nothing.

Full LED on the 4series LCI is an upcharge/option. I wonder if they'll keep the xenon for base models and only sell you a lighting package option.
Your dealer's list would make sense if the M2 LCI was just opening up some different options. I'm thinking that means no retooling or process changes. |

Actually what was written on the chart was F20 and F21 on one line and F22 and F23 on the next, both lines for july / august 2017. There was also the launch of the G30 5 series. No mention of the F87. I didn't take a photo coz he said he wasn't supposed to be showing it to me and was only doing so because I didn't believe him.

This. Just get an LCI 430 if you want LCI. I'd rather just get one of the best driving BMWs in decades.

A lot of people keep waiting for the next set of little bits to be added to the current model not realizing that by the time the current model has been fully "updated" the rumors for the next model will be starting to come out. You will feel pretty bad if you waited that long to get the last version of the current model when in about a year there will be a whole new model on the street. With these "BMW Unicorn" models, get on the list ASAP and enjoy the car that you can get your hands on. Life is too short to wait...
I have a '15 M4 with the old tail lights, navigation, and no comp package that I enjoy driving every single time. Just took delivery of a '17 M2 that replaced my 135i DD. Not looking back on my decision and enjoying the crap out of both vehicles!!! |

You could retrofit new OEM LED tail lights on < 2003.5 models, but it required a reflash of the Light Control Module to cater for the lower power requirements. The E46 M3 is a strange one, not everything from the base refresh came through. BMW M allegedly declined to update the headlights to the newer design as they felt it detracted from the muscular looks. |

Headlights, front bumper and tail lights. To me the front of the pre E92 looks better than LCI E92. E90 LCI however was a major improvement over the pre-lci.

Again, the E92 M3 got none of the front end LCI parts.

What a silly comment and endorsement. What's with people declaring that others are not "real" enthusiasts or customers? Meanwhile others in this thread go into long winded rationalizations about life being short and to take delivery now etc. Thanks for the philosophies folks however this is a personal and individual decision. Some people simply want to put their hard earned dollars towards the latest greatest iterations of whatever they purchase. Is something wrong with that and is it really anyone else's concern? A friend of mine bought the iPhone 6 weeks before the 7 was launched while I waited. We are both content. To each their own.

I've been driving a 6 MT, LBB 17' for 3 months now, I really don't think it needs more power. Flat foot, the rear wheels don't stop spinning up to 3th gear. I can't imagine an M4 engine on this thing, It will require careful calibration. Plus, one of the big reasons I got the M2 is how much you get for your money. When this model comes (it is coming, Top Gear has an article on this) it would be at least 10k more, if not even more, this is Porsche Territory.

Suppliers still have to produce previous style parts even if there is an LCI to allow for accident damaged/warranty vehicles.

I'm definitely in the market, but I really like tech and lighting stuff. It's kind of a weird "fetish," I admit, but there you go. I already know the M2 is a huge upgrade in interior-tech from what I'm driving now (stupid 2006-era Audi nav system crap), but Xenon lighting has been somewhat on its way out for the past several years now (when Toyota and Subaru are doing 100% LED headlights, BMW is a bit behind here on the 2er). If I bought an M2 now with Xenons and then found out the LCI got LEDs, and there's no way to retrofit them (or they'd cost me another $3k to add post-facto)... I would be incredibly annoyed. I'd rather wait until I know one way or another to order. I plan on daily driving the car either way, so all that Fall delivery means is that I have to put on the snow setup sooner. Not having AWD is going to be a big change though... |
