Without getting into too many details, BMW is at fault for not making clear representations about connectivity issues available prior to purchase. I pursued this issue with BMW Canada and received a settlement. |

Spotify currently works on the new 7 series from android phones.
Whether BMW is nice enough to update the older cars is anyone's guess - but I'd probably lean towards no unfortunately. http://www.bmwblog.com/2016/03/22/an...bmw-mini-cars/ |

It'd be nice to work my Spotify Premium account like how I work my Bluetooth audio (as in choosing tracks via I-Drive) but at least I can skip and go back via I-Drive...so glass half full scenario really

Well our crying on Twitter worked. For those of you with Android phones, update your Spotify app today and enjoy full integration. You can now fully navigate your Spotify account via iDrive. It also includes album art!
The days of simple bluetooth play is gone! Woohoo! |

Wondering if this has been answered or not:
The volume when I'm streaming from Spotify (even on highest settings) is significantly lower than anything playing from the radio or CD. I understand the lightning cable is a low-output cable...but is there any fix for this? I hate how much my sound quality deteriorates when listening to Spotify in my Bimmer. |

I just tried this - after reading this thread. It works - Spotify is listed in the apps section of the Connected option on iDrive. My car is a 2017 M240i with iDrive 5. Album art is also there when playing music.

I don't even really need the app for integration. I'd just be happy to play Spotify premium via USB on my android (Samsung 8). Can only play via Bluetooth and the sound quality isn't as good.

I'm assuming you've tried to connect to connecteddrive with a new, updated spotify app on an older NBT idrive?

My current is a 2015, so no dice? I think it is iDrive 4(?). Also - I don't even need the Spotify app on iDrive - I just want to be able to use a USB connection. This has really aggravated me with the Android.

I feel your pain with the lack of generic usb DAC support . So you've tried this to no avail as well on the older m235i corrrect- but it should work on the m240i

The level of integration Android vs. Ios is a major downer.

However it seems like you've already covered all bases. Would leaving something in the car like an old iphone or ipod touch plugged in allow it to work while an android is connected via bluetooth? I know you'd have to open the app everytime but if its already plugged in... |

What amazes me is BMW management talks about the fact that they think the 'premium' experience is what can be delivered through Ios and not Android..
Yet Android is integrated fully with Porsche, Audi and MB is either already allowing it or on it's way.. Are they not BMW competitors and also'premium'?? Very disappointing that I like everything about the car except the lack of Android integration. But c'est la vie. Last edited by WolfGTI; 08-16-2017 at 01:43 PM.. |
