My US Millworks plays nice w/ the sportline bumper, I think it is the M-sport one that gives it a little trouble

Moved all the way over. I have a plate cover and a thin frame. My sensor will go off sometimes, but it is pretty good now. I just need to keep fiddling with it and I am confident I will get it 100% |

I purchased the bell no hole mount bracket. Here's the link:
http://www.amazon.com/Bell-Automotiv.../dp/B0013HP98C Maybe once I get my replacement m235i in a couple of months, I'll do a detailed DIY guide. Although if you Google you'll find existing DIY guides for f30 vehicles. I ended up buying toggle bolts from home depot plus a few other pieces to make it work: - Toggle bolts - Large washers - Strong double side tape (3M) - Painter's tape All in all it cost me about $30-$35 I believe. But in the end I mounted with no drilling and in the center (not on the side like a toe hook) and it doesn't affect any sensors. Basically: 1. You put the toggle bolts into the bottom front grill along with the large washers to stop the bolts from slipping through the grill holes. 2. You mount the flat part of the bell mount to the toggle bolts 3. Cut a license plate length strip of painter's tape and stuck it to the bottom part of the where the front bumper (where the top of the license plate would rest on) 4. Mount the 2nd (movable part) of the bell mount to the actual license plate 5. Stick a strip of 3M double-sided tape to the back of your license plate. 6. Finally mount license plate to the Bell mount on your grill. By "mount", I mean using the screws provided to screw everything together. My explanation sounds confusing probably, but it's actually pretty easy. Hope this helps. Attached some pics. (The vertical tape was for making sure my license plate was centered and yes my license plate is pretty banged up from my old car ) |

What frame are you using? I hate the look of the plate only, so I am trying to think what I can use as another solution that is less bulky. Maybe a black rim protector and run it around the plate? |

I had no interest in an installation that causes the sensors to malfunction. A photo of my solution is attached.
I took the front plate bracket that came with the car and used 4 black (so they can't be seen) cable ties to tie the bracket to the grille behind it. The last thing I was going to do was start drilling after having the clear bra installed. I did the same thing to my X5 3 years ago and have never had a problem. I suppose someone is going to comment that it might interfere with air getting to the radiators behind it. I've been told by numerous people that here in New Jersey the front plate is required to be a minimum distance off the ground (can't recall the exact distance, I assume for visibility). My guess is that I'm violating that rule, but we used to own a Lotus Elise which clearly violated the rule :-) We never got stopped for the issue. |

I actually like this, and may give it a try. I simply cannot get my US Millworks solution to work with the parking sensors (which I NEVER would have ordered, but I bought off the lot). Thanks.

I used zip ties that are large enough so the heads will not go through the bracket holes, but small enough so that the threaded portion of the zip tie will fit through the hole on its way out to the grill, as well as on its way back from the grill ( after wrapping the zip tie around one of the vertical or horizontal bars on the grill )

I am having good luck withe the USMillworks regular with quick release on my m235i. I had to tilt it "down" so that the plate conforms to bumper. Also I don't have a surround on my plate it is "naked" on the mount.

Been no-front plate for 10 months now and this car gets over 1300 miles every month without any hassle from the police. I've even driven very slowly facing them in the parking lot, etc, and no problem.

I like the off-set look with the US Millworks plate, but I can't get mine to work with the parking sensors, no matter what I try. Argh. |

I'm two months in my m235 in Connecticut and no problem so far. No that I'm paying attention, I can't believe how many high end cars I see around here without one.

I like the price, and several friends have told me that locating the plate that low makes the front of the car look more aggressive, but of course that's subjective. I also like the idea that removal is easy...just cut the zip ties with a pair of scissors. I used the double sided tape idea on other cars, which actually worked for a long time but the plate eventually started to come off. And removal of the double sided tape turned out to be a real PIA after it had been on the bumper cover for an extended period of time. |

i wish i had seen your post earlier. i also had a similar problem on my '16 M235. i had one position (upside down and offset) that worked intermittently, but then it always started tripping the sensor. i emailed US Millworks and they responded with a photo showing it offset to the very last position. i had to manipulate the angle a bit (i have the quick release version) before finally clearing the sensors in that position.
