Delivery estimates (USA)

Speaking of which,

I talked to my CA today and he seemed pretty confident that my car will be in San Diego by next Friday (which is when I have to turn in my rental car) so I'll keep you guys updated as well.

That sounds totally possible, especially if the dealer themselves is motivated to get you your car asap, no reason they couldn't do their part in a few hours. Less motivated dealers can take a couple days before they have the car ready. Fingers crossed for you. I'm hoping for following Monday, given extra distance involved. I'll have no car all next week, as the GLI goes to CarMax this weekend.

Good luck! I'm hopeful that the BMW system is just out of date.. fingers crossed!

I drive a GLI as well. And I'm gonna sell to CarMax as well !

Can you not ask the dealer to give you a loaner ? I asked mine and he said for a few days can be done.

Yeah and I also asked him if he could take a picture of it coming off the truck once it comes and send it to me and he promised to keep an eye out for it. I already talked to my boss and told him if the car is ready for pickup on Friday I'm either coming in late or taking off early XD

I got an email today letting me know that my car is now at the VPC. Totally unconfirmed, but I'll probably be getting it in about a week since I can't get to LA this weekend even if it does make it to the dealer.

March 7th is my target date for pick up now.

Does anyone know how long their car sat at port for before their LSD got put on and then it was shipped out?

As of today the 800 number says that my car is in production with an expected completion date of March 6!!!

Be prepared to extend that by a few days. The day it reaches SD is not necessarily the day that you can actually take delivery.

Here was my schedule after my car got off the boat:

Feb 12-13: unloaded from ship (Baltimore)
Feb 20 (Fri): transported to dealer (MD dc metro area)
Feb 23 (Mon): delivery

This was a little prolonged due to snow, but still something to keep in mind! PS...I didn't have any port installed options and no damage in shipping.

The BMW site won't push any info out to you and lags a day or so behind reality as does the automated phone system. It's also very limited in detail. If you have a proactive CA, they'll mail info to you, but you likely have to ask them. You can also call the BMW number and get more detail if you talk to a live rep.

The easiest thing to do is call the BMW North America phone number, get your automated status, and then talk to a real person. They're very helpful.

They have the same access to your car as your CA. Just keep in mind that they are only there during business hours.
