Car cover reccomendation? F22 : 2021 : M240i

Hello everyone. I was curious if anyone had car cover experience for their F22 2-series.

I would use the cover in a garage, out of the rain.

~Cheers,
~

there are a few other (rather recent) post concerning car covers for F22. Covercraft seems to come highly recommended.
Can't put a cover on a dirty car.
Covers don't last forever and if you wash them it really shortens their lifespan.

I think I need to order a new cover for my car - which I keep out exposed in all four seasons.

I'll order from Covercraft.

I've been satisfied with a cover I bought in 2018 from California Car Cover (https://www.calcarcover.com/CoverDesigner/ChooseCover).

The model I bought is no longer available, but the equivalent cover offered today (DustForce® Soft As Flannel Indoor Custom Car Cover) is advertised as an indoor cover offering maximum dust protection. That was the criteria I used in selecting my cover.

I bought many covers over the last 30 years from Covercraft, all custom made to fit specific classic cars. The best fabric is the 5 layers made by Kimberly Clark. The registered trademark is NOAH. The inner layer is a fleece and they are very easy to install. I used them for indoor and outdoor use with excellent results.

~Cheers,

I got this car cover from Amazon, and it fits like it was made for the M240 but very cheap and took a day for shipping.

Personally, I’d stay away from a car cover, especially for a garaged car. Over time, it causes micromarring on the paint. There’s always going to be some level of dirt on the car from driving it. That dirt then gets installed onto the underside of the cover and rubbed onto the paint. The cover itself is also abrasive to some degree.

If it’s for long term storage in a dusty space, there may be some benefit. Though at the expense of reduced air flow around the car, which can increase moisture levels under the cover.

I did the car cover thing for years and found it to do more harm than good, but that’s just my opinion. I’d use it for a car that’s outside exposed to sun, and to keep snow off it. The minor damage to the paint is outweighed by the reduction in sun damage and scratches from ice/snow removal. For garage storage, I skip it.
