Minor Scratch Repair
Hey Guys,
Just picked up my Estoril Blue 2016 M235i a couple weeks ago and I am absolutely loving it. Unfortunately, I got a small ding in my driver side door and although its very minor I would like to try and repair it if possible. I'm not handy at all so any opinions or thoughts on how to tackle a DIY fix would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! |

Are you trying to fix the door edge or the quarter moon shaped scratch on the door?
The quarter moon scratch I would leave to a detailer for sure as any fix a novice tries I guarantee will come out worse. It's way too easy to accidentally take some of that blue base coat off now that the clear is so damaged. For the door edge, apply a really really thin layer of touch up paint to the door edge. You want to sort of dab it on with the brush as opposed to wiping/brushing it on for an inconspicuous repair.

my experience has been that it takes practice to get a paint mix and application that isn't an obvious touch-up blob.
Practice on hidden part of door jamb ( https://drcolorchip.com ) ( http://www.langka.com ) If you get the blob then experience with wet-sanding or compounding can hide the blob to where you'd almost need to know where to look to spot the repair. |

Might be worth talking to some of your nearby BMW dealers after-sales people. It may be a UK thing, but my local dealer offers a flat-rate package of £80 ($102 USD)/panel repair for minor scratches and dents. In short succession, I got two minor dents parking at the gym, and a set of scratches I'm sure were from a supermarket trolley, across door and rear quarter. Local dealer repaired both for 2x £80+tax versus £3-400 ($382-$510) from an independent repairer/detailer.
Talking to the BMW garage, they said the price was competitive to bring people into the showroom (long service intervals mean fewer people coming into the franchise) and get customers used to using the dealer's paint shop for more serious repairs. Also to attract customers 35 miles away in S. London using much cheaper day rates than in the capital.

Thanks everyone for the replies! Do you think Dr. Color Chip would do the trick? I was planning on getting a kit for future road rash/paint chips in the front anyway.

fixed the scratch and dent
It was for the last year. There was a dent on the car, it was small but terribly annoying
I was consulted by the masters several times. they argued that the entire wing had to be replaced. then I found a craftsman who removed this dent without any problems with some kind of tool. the main thing was quite inexpensive In my free time, I'm here https://777spinslot.com/free-5-no-deposit-casino/ |
