THP allows coordinated changes to powertrain driving mode and accompanying suspension/steering setting. It is my understanding that the ability to change was limited to the powertrain driving mode only in cars without MAdaptive?? Oherwise, what is the difference in suspension capability? How much of this do I have incorrectly?

Ah, just saw your note on the prior page....thank you...that helps make sense of it. This would go along with DHP becoming MAdaptive and part of THP since 2015?

Does anyone know how much (spirited) driving is needed before one can see a change in the handling? I mean for cars equipped with Dynamic handling. I have a 2017 230 with m performance. I currently find the steering feel very good but the steering a bit light. I came from a 2010 E92 bmw 335 which had more power but less steering feel.
Aside from the lightness of the steering, the 230 is a better handler than the 335 I had. |

If you can get both packages, assuming that money is not an issue, that would be nice. However if had to pick one I'd go for MSport. Front bumper looks much better than non-MSport IMO, and M Sport Suspension will have you exiting highways at ridiculous speeds. It's very stiff and gives you a lot of confidence. Now don't get me wrong, I wish I got THP myself because adaptive suspension is nice and if you decide to get Dinan Shockware down the road the car needs to have adaptive suspension. I think bigger brakes in THP would be nice too... I hate my brakes, never got used to them even though I've had the car for more than a year, so I'm assuming the blue Msport brakes would be better.
Just my two cents.

But boy..that M-Sport steering wheel is sweet! Had that one on our former F31 Sportwagon and loved it....wonder if it can be added separately???

I wanted to make my 228i M-Sport as sharp a version of itself as it could possibly be -- within reason -- as a performance enthusiast's car. This made the THP completely indispensable to me and I have never regretted it, not just because it really wakes the car up (especially with engine/suspension tunes) but it functions as a necessary platform for certain desirable suspension modifications.

Those were in the car anyway, without MSport.

Yes, I do as well have 228i with CWP with heated steering wheel but not with MSport as original equipment. The issue, as explained to me, is that installing the MSport wheel as an aftermarket part causes the heating function not to work. But by all means, do ask the dealer again!

2VL Variable sport steering
* 3 year old thread revival!
I am looking at a 2017 230i M-sport. It is optioned with 2VL Variable sport steering as a stand alone option... not part of the ZTR Track Handling Package. I've looked at the 2017 MY pricing and ordering guides and I do not see 2VL as a stand alone option. Am I missing something? Is this a weird build? Thanks!

So with all the talk about suspensions and cosmetics, what's holding you back on the engine part of it? Seems like you are investing in all these packages that will bring the cost to a near M240i. No?

I just bought a 2018 230i and am having trouble determining whether it has the track handling package. Specifically:
1. Has 18” wheels (style 384) which I believe are supposed to come with the track handling package 2. Has grey brakes, not blue with the m logo 3. Under configure sport settings, shows chassis adjustment as well as drivetrain. Would appreciate any advice. Know there are many forums on this, but I have been having trouble getting to a clear answer. I haven’t driven another 230i so don’t have a comparison. Thanks in advance. |

THP comes with the blue m sport brakes vs grey ones. You can also decode your vin number at mdecoder.com and see all the options/packages your car is equipped with. |

Thank you. Looks like the prior owner must have changed the wheels to the 384 as they were not listed in the vin decoder. |
