Cost on mperformance exhaust plus install at BMW center?
I'm still under warranty so I wanted to get the m performance exhaust while it would still be covered. A bmw associate mentioned that it needs to be bought and installed by a BMW center. Yet, no one is giving up a price to me? Sos

Covered under warranty ? No way. They will be happy to sell you one and its possible they could attach the remaining portion of your warranty to the M perf system if instaled at a BMW center. |

If they were to attach it you mean it wouldn't be under warranty if something happened due to the exhaust/ but maybe the exhaust would have a separate warranty ?

You should ask the rep. selling it to you, what is the coverage if they install it. It may be No Coverage, who knows. Exhaust systems are not likely to fail. |

I got my MPE from a BMW dealer on Ebay for a little over $800. Shop around, find the best buy, grab it and have a decent exhaust shop install it unless you're comfortable tackling it yourself. I wouldn't worry about a warranty on one, you'll be fine. I've done a lot of exhausts on my BMW's over the years and never had a problem with any of them. When is your warranty up anyway?

That's not horrible the exhaust is $800 or so and the tips around $600 last I checked.

My warranty ends at the end of 2019. I really don't feel like there would be a problem if i installed myself etc. Yet, idk I am literally that guy who will get unlucky. I may even buy an extended warranty before this one ends.
I spoke to one bmw service/parts rep. They quoted me around 1300-1500 for m performance exhaust and install. ** I asked the rep if it would be covered under warranty. He said as long as it is bought through bmw and installed by them I'm good.** Thats what I'm concerned about the cost and if it is gonna be covered if i get a check light |

My other problem is I wanted to buy off a bmw dealer cheaper off ebay then bring it to a bmw to have it installed. Yet, I feel like they will be like "well if it wasn't ordered from us we aren't touching it".

While they can say that, unless something was improperly installed if you have priper receipts of legitimate purchase etc, it is an OE part, it should be covered while your car is covered. Even if someone else installed it.
That woukd be like having your brakes changed somewhere and if a caliper seized up later they blame it on that. They would need to say something was damaged, in which case you can go to the other shop with this info. |

I'd just have a decent exhaust shop do it. It cost me $100 here. It's just an exhaust, they'd have to try real hard to mess things up. I haven't heard of any issues with this exhaust like the e9x Inconel gen 1 cracking issue...you'll be fine. If you ever have an issue with the exhaust it'll most likely be well out of warranty period by then. It's whatever you're comfortable with though.

Not at all. Most dealerships would gladly install any part, even aftermarket parts like downpipes which aren't even made by the manufacturer.

If you don't buy the MPE exhaust at the time you buy the car new, then it's only covered by the standard 2 year warranty. The warranty is not impacted by who installs it, whether it's you, BMW, or Midas. I installed mine in about an hour. You can rent an exhaust pipe cutting tool for free at most any autoparts store.
