Catch Can

I'm not really finding much in the way of catch can options for the B58 motor.

Being direct injection I feel it most definitely needs one.

Right now I'm just seeing the Burger Tuning catch can but they say you have to have their intake for it to work.

What gets me is how is their intake a good idea if you go from a closed box to a completely open design that is going to allow intake of even more hot air from the engine compartment?

What are some other catch can options?

Don't need it on these later gen turbo BMWs. Starting with the N55 motor, BMW made revisions to vapor re-circulation system to keep oil mist/vapor in check and reduce build up on the intake valves. Even after 60K miles, N55s rarely have enough build up to necessitate cleaning. The N54 is prone to build up and requires routine maintenance.

During hard driving, these motors don't suffer from oil ingestion issues like some others like certain GM LSX motors.

Long story short, these motors don't need catch cans and if anything, they'll cause more harm than good with all the extra vacuum line and potential for vacuum leaks.

Expect to have to clean the intake valves every 5 or 6 years. It's just the nature of direct injection motors and there's no way of getting around it unless a secondary injection system (i.e., fuel, meth, water) is employed upstream of the valves.

Ah, thanks!

I had a C7 2015 Vette and it most definitely needed a catch can.
