No LCI for M2 in mid 2017 ?
I just visited my dealer to ask if there was any news about my M2 which I ordered last april and which has a june 2017 delivery chalked in since then. I told him I was interested in delaying a month or two in case there was an LCI. He told me there wasn't going to be one for the M2. He could see how dubious I was looking so he showed me a chart on the BMW website which apparently has just been shown to the dealers who went to some sort of 5 series unveiling in Spain last week. It clearly shows an LCI scheduled in july / august for the 1 and 2 series (full LED lights I think) but the M2 didn't appear on there at all. I'm not sure if this definitely means nothing's going to happen this year....

But if you really want to get into it, I'm pretty adamant that there will be an LCI for the M2 this summer but it will focus only on minor changes such as headlights, iDrive and a few other little things. |

There is nothing you can miss out to missing the LCI unless it comes with a beefed up B58, which isn't going to happen.
The headlight being the prominent you can retrofit that and sure every other little things. Take a MY2017, you'll be fine 100%.

Just another thought. Right after that announcement, might be prime time to pick up a used 2016 or 2017 that some dealers are holding, hoping to flip at original MSRP. |

Anyone agonizing about whether or not to wait for slightly tweaked lighting isn't really in the market for an M2 anyway.

Ha ha ! Unfortunately I am the sort of person who always ends up making the wrong decision. In fact I'm convinced that Fate always screws me whenever I make a decision. If I choose a supermarket check-out queue it is always the one that moves the slowest. If I go on holiday to the USA, the dollar strengthens just before I go, and I end up getting torrential downpours in Las Vegas... in august, and miserable cold at the Grand Canyon... in august. I KNOW that if I take delivery of my M2 in june, there's going to be a B58 installed with 400 bhp in july, full LED lights, an instrument lighting fix and orange paint available, and they'll have decided to leave out the soda can crunch due to popular demand.

The M2 should have all of the 2-series LCI changes that are in common with the general platform. Why? Economics and historical precedent.
Also as far as BMW's track record in advertising model year changes specific to the M2, iDrive 5 was announced for the 2-series, but not for the M2. |

As far as I know the LCI update that stands out the most is the LED lights. There is a small chance that some people may not like the updated LED lights. Sometimes newer isn't always better. Alternatively if people like the new update so much I presume they can buy and retro fit them at their own expense.

LED headlights in the states is a waste since they are no brighter, just a different color thanks to US DOT. LCI for sure will have a price hike. The only thing I would hope for is some more colors to pick from.

It's hard for me to believe that they would want the suppliers to continue to produce old parts when all of the other 2 Series are getting the LCI stuff. Doubt that is likely to happen. Having said that there in nothing in the LCI that would make me wait for it. The changes are very subtle.
