6 speed commute - how long do you do it?

Hey guys

I've never owned an automatic, and I am almost 100% sure I'll get a manual again. I used to commute 60 mins each way in a 6.7 mile (10km) every day and it was brutal with my old good fiesta hatch.
Wanted to know how long you commute to work with it and how you feel about it.
My commute is gonna be 30-50 mins each way every day (in bad days it will be like 70mins)

I have the 6 speed MT and mine is 15 miles and about 25 minutes long. This car shifts so smooth traffic is a breeze~!

Also, wrong section brah.

26 miles, 30-45 min depending on traffic. My hours are very flexible so I usually go in late morning. On the way home I try to leave late and sometimes still hit medium traffic, but will not compromise on manual.

Depends on the stop and go

I live in Atlanta and my 12 mile commute can take 30-60 minutes. I used to drive it in a 6 speed and it can be brutal in stop and go traffic. I'm automatic now so it doesn't really bother me.

My usual commute is pretty short, but I live in LA so I have to deal with the traffic here at least 2 hours a week. Just leave it in 1st or 2nd and crawl at idle. The clutch is pretty light so it's not too bad.

The 235 Has to be the easiest MT car I've driven TBH. Super light clutch pedal, and will coast easily without using the accelerator pedal which is nice in traffic.

I work from home mostly so i'm not one to comment on commute driving but I do live in Houston so I drive in bad traffic all the time.

That said, my Sti was awful to drive in traffic.... so my next car was a automatic.... now i'm back to a manual with the m235i and honestly, if every manual was this easy to drive i'd never buy another auto as long as I live. Yes it's more work than an automatic in traffic but it's worth it (to me)

+1 on subies sucking in traffic. The 235 is sooooo much easier to drive. Another +1 for it's coasting abilities.

30-45 minutes in West LA surface street traffic.

Honestly, it's not that bad.

Some of you guys spend 40 minutes for a 6 mile commute? I would be on a 21 speed at that point.

Yes, sir. My commute sometimes took 70+ minutes on a 6.7 mile commute EACH WAY. On terrible days, it took me literally 2h to get door to door. 21 speed wouldn't be a bad idea, but I'd have to wear mask given the city pollution.

6 speed MT here too, I have never driven a slush box my entire life (wife has a 435i GC that's slush though). I commute about a half hour each way, every day.

Ive had jobs were my commutes were an hour + before, I just never minded it much.

I drive about 35 minutes to 1 hour a day each way. Currently doing it in a 2015 wrx which has a horrid heavy clutch. Cant wait for my M235i to come in. The clutch is like paper compared to the wrx.

The manual in this car once the tranny warms up is butter smooth... Definitely very refined. My commute is about 15mins each way in moderate traffic. Stop n go would not be an issue for me and never has been. Most of my cars have been manuals. In stop n go just leave a gap and ride 1st... Once traffic lets go turn off the nannies and give her the beans..!
