How to choose seat belt eyelet color in vert?
Greetings! I've spent the past few weeks lurking and reading through posts and have searched for answers already on this particular question. I've done a few 228i vert test drives in the meantime as well. My last BMW was a 1999ish 3 series. This 2 series really takes me back to all the things I loved about that car!
Introductions out of the way, I have been unable to pin down a cosmetic difference in the convertible 2's I've driven. Some have chrome seat belt eyelets and some are red. The ones I'm talking about are on the B pillar area on the convertible, right behind your shoulder. Does anyone know if they are tied to a certain package, trim, option? I greatly prefer the red eyelets and am looking at a glacier silver (or perhaps the darker grey)/coral red build (the eyelets are not tied to interior color, I've seen them on various colors and I've seen chrome ones on red interiors). Thanks very much, Bozman |

Yep, I was confused by the same thing. They come with a red cover over them that is removed at delivery. It's for transit only. They are all the same black I believe.
When I saw my dealer pics I was fired up because it was red and I thought "great package, never had seen that before." Oh well, you will have to come up with a mod! |

Someone swapped out the actual straps for blue but not sure I've seen what you're describing done here at least.

This is what you're talking about right? If you want it red you could probably find one before it's taken off and just ask them to leave it on.

I imagine that cover is a hard rubber so that it pops on and off easily. If it is, and you leave it on you'll eventually just be grinding particles of red rubber into the underside of your seatbelt.

Troymi - Yes, that picture is what I was talking about. I thought the red was a cool pairing with the red gloss trim + coral red interior, without being too over-the-top REEEEEED everywhere.
If they are removable, that would be a good idea to powder coat them, BEM-S4. Now, replacing the seatbelt - hmmm never thought about it. Could be interesting! I think this is a great car for the cosmetic mod market, as long as it doesn't get too garish. Thanks, Bozman |

Regarding powder coat, they have to be removable but it could get expensive depending on how much other stuff you need to remove. Either route I am guessing cost will outweigh benefit quickly.
