This is the number that really jumps out at me: "Lift reduced by 35%"
That's amazing. No need for a f-ing big-ass wing.

I think it's funny how a lot of people are freaking out about the mirrors, but no one seems upset that the M2 didn't get bespoke sport seats! I'd personally much rather have m4 seats than m4 mirrors!
Aesthetically, I like the stance, the flares and the rear diffuser. But overall, when it comes to the bumpers, I like the msport design on the m235i or 228i with m sport package better (those rear reflectors are weird, the car would've looked a lot better if they were vents instead). In any case, I like the M2 a lot, and mostly because it's going to be a blast to drive! I sincerely wish for new color options for the exterior and the interior over the next years, though! |

Here's a video of the M2 being rev'd:
And a deeper dive (in German):

Meh. Looks great, better than the renderings thankfully. BMW did a too good of a job at making sure the M3/4 was the better, more special car. For the money it's clearly the better value.
Engine cover is blasphemy. |

Diffuser, yeah... but the whole bumper cover looks like it came off the ugly X6m. I think it's horrible with the vertical reflectors. I'm not caring much for the front lower flaps on each side either.

Eat your heart out M3/M4! That's a nice exhaust note. Can you imagine with an MPE? Akrapovic? Nice!!!

WOW what a mean looking pocket rocket. The RS3 and CLA45 are in trouble this is by far the best drivers car of the class. Funny all the m3/4 fan boys feel the need to come here and say how ugly and not special this is LOL It sounds worlds better than the rasp machine S55 and will most likely be more visceral/satisfying to drive.

Looks great! Too bad you can't tell how the car feels from these pictures. For that, we'll have to wait for some reviews. Sounds like the jury is still out on the M3/4 feel, but I wasn't real impressed with the feedback I felt in the M235I, so hopefully this is improved.

But now I finally understand what the @72to16 Instagram handle means. The BMW 2002 was "replaced" by the 5 Series in 1972. The M2 will be available in 2016. So there is a spiritual connection between the "2" models from '72 and '16. Your mileage may vary.
