I'm scheduled for delivery at the Welt on 8/14; I asked for the factory tour and got a note to the effect that the factory is closed from 10th-14th August for the vacation closedown, reopening on the 17th.

So it looks like it's really just shut for one week this year.

That's really interesting, as when I asked for 8/21 a couple weeks ago I got a reply that they were shut from 8/3-8/24. I guess I will have to inquire again, maybe the schedule really has changed.

Also interested in that the sa said the tracking was showing it to be built by late July. Maybe the tracking has not update.

From the reading around on the forum it seems like having it delivered July 30th, Or in the first week of August seems like a long shot.

So odd - I got this one on 6/7. I'm going to send another request today. I do realize now that they did not actually say why there was no tour, maybe they are simply full?

There are no guided tours on the weekends (I think the factories are open M-F), so they may have just answered a bit literally. The plant would be closed for vacations on M-F one week and then again vacation closures on M-F the next week. That's my guess though.

I can't imagine they would change the vacation schedule for their factory workers. For one, Germany has very tight labor laws, unlike the US. They actually support laws that benefit the worker, not the corporation. And two, BMW employees are part of IG Metall, the biggest union in the country, which includes workers from many different companies, including Daimler (MB). BMW can't just make employees work an extra week. German law prevents managers from even calling or e-mailing their colleagues outside of work hours unless it's an emergency.

Again, just my guess, but it seems highly doubtful things have changed.
