MPE mod like this?
My buddy found this mod is pretty common for the 335i, just wondering if anyone knows what's inside the MPE? He's pretty good at metalworking, and we were gunna give this a shot. Just wanted some opinions before we started cutting into anything.

Just do a muffler delete! I appreciate your ingenuity but your taking such an expensive and time consuming route to accomplish the same thing. If you remove the baffling out of the entire muffler, what makes it any different than deleting the back box? It's just more weight.

Once again I tip my hat to you for you and your buddy who are willing to cut open such a nice box and experiment on something no one has! Also you will find the muffler delete on these cars are unbelievably awesome!

Interested to see where this goes. I bought an extra stock box and took it to my local exhaust shop but the guy told me it'd be a waste of time... I'm thinking I'll do a Midpipe resonator delete first.

You are basically doing a muffler delete. This will results in a very high exhaust (might be too high for a daily driver) and drone

I think I'm just gunna go the route of the muffler delete once we have time to do it. From what I've read, the drone isn't bad, and the MPE just isn't as loud as I'd like. Also don't wan't to go catless just yet.

My experience with the muffler delete is great so far! I've had it for a few months now and the whole talk about "drone" is somewhat true, but it varies from driver to driver. For me personally there was slight drone during "stop and go" (accelerating from a stop light - between 1500 and 2500 revs). Surprisingly no drone at all on the highway. It wasn't too annoying though. The thing is that after a little while of driving my car with this exhaust modification, I don't even notice any type of drone what so ever anymore. I guess I've just gotten used to it. So IMO I think a muffler delete/straight pipe on the M235i is 100% worth it! I just can't wait to get my full bolt on kit w/ a tune soon!
