This whole thread is just ...... sad.

OP definitely needs a little more time to mature, emotionally and financially...

Not sure if thats a good reason to tease him so harshly.....

*reads sexist comment about women, and how at 23 he uses the car to date WOMEN, not girls, WOMEN*....

Lmfao.... this is worse than high school.

Yea but you guys have to look at this from my perspective: I never had a car in high school, and had to walk home from school while my friends drove by, honked the horn and laughed.

Now that I'm working I can finally pay for my own car, have the best car out of all of my friends, and got something that's almost god-like to me. I love getting the compliments from guys and girls alike. This stuff I said about the girls that's an exaggeration, but its the idea that I am able to pay for a car like this that got ruined 10 months in that has me really upset.

I'm not like some 50 year old banker that just bought a beemer because he can afford to drive a beemer. Like everyone here its more like a passion, a love for the way a good car handles. And to me that's what hurts. I can say dumb stuff but there's substance behind my logic.

Don't let this treatment get you too down. You are young and I would hate to go back and listen to some of the inane things I said when I was 20. Life is about learning.

That said, fix and keep the car. Financial learning is best done through observing the mistakes of others.

To all the non-OPs: Please recall some of the less - mature things you may have said when you were young.

Your car is not ruined, you are an idiot.

That is all to be said about this thread. We all have a passion for BMW's; the reason we are all on this forum to begin with.

They should re-name this site "2Fanatics" or "2Idiots" after reading some of these posts. Talking about "rich kids" or entitlement, I love the posts wherein some guy has his car for one day and already dumped another $25,000 in wheels, tires, suspension, brakes, interior bits, exterior bits, engine upgrades, and paint making a $50,000 car a $75,000 car without turning a mile yet.

Or the ones where people complain because they don't like amber reflectors or lights on their car and they are "losing sleep" about the issue.

The ones that post the question of "should I buy a 235i, Mercedes C63 AMG, Audi S4, or Porsche Cayman S?" are great too...especially when they follow up with "I just got out of school and am wanting a fun "first" car." Then they go on to complain about each. My first car out of school was a $1,500 Nissan 280zx (with more rust than paint) not an exotic sports car..be fortunate you can even consider something in that pricer range "out of school."

And then you have those that lambast the hell out of others because someone chose an automatic transmission over a manual...who cares. We don't all live next to a race track or place where traffic is sparse. Be happy that you are in a position to be able to buy this car in the first place and stop complaining about stupid things because the Internet has made it convenient and anonymous.

Overall, I think these forums are becoming more about bragging and shooting cowardly opinions at people vs. a good source of helpful information.
Best, well-written and funniest post I have ever read on Post or Fest!

(OP: I'm not poking at you. I get your distress --- but your only reasonable option is to get the damage fixed --- and also forgive your sister.)
Agreed, both counts

You have a car. A car with a door dent that is easily repaired. Go fix it.

We get it, your shiny new thing doesn't have that new shine on it. You're going to go through life like that. Now is the time to grow up.

Also if your friends drove by you in high school honking the horn and laughing, they probably weren't your friends. Just like the girl who digs you for your car isn't actually in to you.

You need to get some perspective on things and life that are important and things that aren't.

Things that are important:
-Family
-Friends

Things that are not important:
-What others think
-Material possessions
-Perceived social status

In America, a boy straight out of school can afford to lease/buy a brand new BMW.

No, his parents can afford to buy him the car, but he'd never admit it. I see this spoiled-brat phenomenon at our local university every day.

These trust-fund babies are usually visa students from other countries, they are the worst of the worst.

OP is slightly better than those types. At least he has a job.

It's mostly that exchange students are required to have 3x their tuition sitting in a bank account. If your tuition is $50k a year, it's paid for and you have $150k sitting in a bank account, you can probably convince your parents that you need a car (on a campus that has more convenient metro options than NYC), even though parking is ridiculously expensive in order to discourage you from driving a car.

I remember when I was in school, there was a Japanese girl with a santorini blue e46 M3. It was sweet, but ridiculous. When you have money though, sometimes you just can't be bothered to be smart with it.
