0-60 numbers
Note that in the 2014 Model BMW quotes 0-60 of 4.8 on the AT M235i.
For 2015 they are quoting 4.6. I assume this is just a revised literature to reflect actual numbers and no changes were made to the vehicles themselves. |

Serious question - when they do those test how much fuel is typically in the car? Gotta be 75lbs for a full tank right? I know the F1 guys plan to be on fumes at finish to save weight / go faster.

Also, from my experience, the car slightly exceeds the EPA MPG ratings, especially on the highway.

I thought 0-60 times were theoretical maybe afyer testing they realises the car was quicker? dont matter its just a rough guide anyway, midrange power and torque is what u want!
F1 cars need to have a certain amount of fuel on board for testing purposes so dont really finish on fumes. Also each drivers style varies leaving different fuel levels in the car. Depending on the situation and track position this dictates the revs etc. For example Hamilton is more efficient than Rosberg in the same car. |

Car and Driver is useless for tests, they have the fastest times on everything because they use a flawed testing method. Gets them clicks. |

In any case, I find 5-60 "street start" to be more interesting than 0-60.

I have noticed that some BMW literature states 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. That is equivalent to 0 to 62 MPH - 2 MPH over the US standard. So, this does suggest that true 0 to 60 times might actually be a bit less than 4.8 seconds.

It would be interesting to know what of grade fuel was used for the official figures. I've read you can get up to 102 octane in Germany. I can get between 95-99 locally. It might be worth a tenth!

Also wouldn't air density and elevation change things a bit. This could be why they report different 0-60 times.

Looks like they revised the manual time on the 228 to 5.5 from 5.8 which was initially attributed to the standard tires on the 228 vs a 328. 328 manual was always .1 second slower than the auto but there was a strange .4 second gap for the 228 between auto and manual. Not that it matters in the real world but was a matter of a lot of discussion on these threads several months ago.
