Does the reliable 360hp of N55 applies to the internal engine components or just to the turbo???
I just found odd that BMW would sell a car with a engine only 12% left from its internal limits. I know that this car propose is to be spanked at track and need higher levels of reliability but for a street daily basis i bet that you can achieve similar results with the same bolt ons (turbo, intercooler, exhaust and ecu) and last forever with a proper maintaince and driver care.

From what i have read, they package other companies stuff and make their own ecu tuning. And throw some dyno sheets with 25% drivetrain loss and big crank numbers. Do you know if those 700ps 1M's has single turbo conversion? Or what is the brand of the dual turbos? Loba?

Don't you find it odd that BMW would go thru the EXPENSE of having TWO engine lines that produce two such similar engines in the same factory: N54 with 345 PS and N55 with 300(or320)PS. That costs bmw a lot of money for such a small difference in power outputs. Why would they do that?

So there MUST be a reason. The reason is the internal engine parts are not up to the task on the N55 vs the N54 power levels.

Also... we all know these engines are under rated in HP(PS) - but that is getting OT.

I just was driven in their 1M on the Nordschleife. It was AMAZING. It absolutely "killed" every car out there. Porsche's/Lambo's/Ferrari's you name it - it was toast. Their 1M had 600 HP not 700, my mistake. And it had two turbos, that are not OE. I will (hopefully) do an in depth story on their 1M packages. But for now that's the only info I can give you.

I was under the impression that both use the same block and same internal specs (size at least). First they released a strong engine (forged internals) to avoid problems and gain market trust (+600rwhp vishnu fftec). Then they focused into reducing costs: one turbo cheaper than two; weaker/cheaper internal parts... But as i said before, i still don't believe that BMW would gamble to release a FI engine with just 12% of margin for internal parts (rods, pistons, crankshaft...). Just do the math for others BMW FI engines stock vs tuners values with just bolt ons.

You don't need a 600hp stage to kill Porsche's/Lambo's/Ferrari's at track. I bet that a stock engine with dedicted suspension, brake and tire combo will be enough for that job.

I want to believe into tuningwerk claims but words is just words and it isn't enough for me. I'm looking forward for that info and see how different it is from other tuners stages. There is on youtube a red BMS 335i with RB turbos and a serious weight reduction killing a bung of high hp cars.

Especially at the Nordschleife. Track knowledge is everything there.

I noticed the door panel too. I believe it's Oyster from the factory with custom carbon by Tuningwerk. That is only my guess, not a fact.

Yes, it was a custom door panel. It helps when you know who the suppliers are for BMW and where they are located.

TW made a few cars. They prefer to stay under BMW's radar bc they do not want to upstage BMW. TW's cars are magical beasts.

Have seen this car before and to be fair this is how the M235i should have looked from the start minus the giant rear spoiler and no backseats otherwise its perfect.
