You can see the Mazda 6 in the Camry's lights treatment and the shape of some panels... but they car ends up looking like some weird hybrid species to me. I think Toyota are on a journey and they are still in the wilderness...

Toyota definitely needs to make more sporty cars. I used to work at a toyota dealer and got sick looking at those fuckin boring looking cars. Honda cars look way better. I wonder if Toyota ever considered hiring one of the peeps on E90post and ask them for their opinion of new designs. THAT WOULD FUCKING HELP!! ahhh I cant stand talkin about Toyota.

One problem with toyotas has always been their wheel designs, so freak'n bland and boring! I think the only wheel design i've liked was on the IS.
P.S. that camary looks about as exciting as a geriatric eating oatmeal while watching matlock in diapers.

yeah but the crapboxes sell
toyota is hugely successful because tons of people don't give a crap what they drive, and don't enjoy driving. They just want a cheap boring car. |

For people looking for an inexpensive, reliable car, its a perfect choice. I know a guy (I always make fun of him) who owns a '99 I4 4Runner (yes, they used to make em with 4 cylinders) and some old Toyota Camry. He could easily afford a 3,5,6 or 7 series, but he doesn't feel that its worth the money. For getting from point A to point B, its perfectly adequate. |

I always thinks it's hilarious whenever I see these posts where everybody's tearing Toyota and Lexus to shreads and ragging on their cars and designs. Obviously somebody likes their cars. You don't get to be the number one auto maker in the world unless somebody is buying your cars!
BMW makes fantastic cars, but let's face it, so does Lexus/Toyota. But they're different cars marketed differently to different people. The Toyota brand is a broad line of cars marketed more to average buyers (not the folks on the E90 boards). Lexus and BMW have an overlapping market because they are both marketed to upscale affluent buyers. Here's the key difference: BMW is known for performance and handling, while Lexus is known more for luxury and reliability. Does Lexus want some of the BMW marketshare? You bet they do, and that's why you see more emphasis on performance in some of their new products like the IS350 and the LS460. Will they steal some buyers from BMW? Yes, they will, but probably not enough to do any real harm to BMW. If BMW keeps cranking out the real cutting edge performance cars they'll keep attracting buyers like you and me. So come on people. Let's lighten up on Lexus and Toyota and enjoy our Bimmers. |

I keep seeing this thread and thought to myself: BMW DOESNT HAVE TO CARE ABOUT SHIT!!! Fuck in the future when people realize that there are no big freaking issues with german engineered cars, they will switch over in a heart beat. And where will Lexus/Toyota be?? Still trying to pull shit outta their ass tryin to keep up. I am not just saying this bcus I drive a BMW. I drove a Camry for 3 years and worked at a Toyota Dealership for over a year and thought Toyota cars were the best. That was until I started looking at other cars and realized how BORING toyota cars are.
My aunt considered buying a BMW but was afraid that it will break down. That's the only reason why many lexus buyers stay with lexus. She ended up buying a lexus ES330. The pt im trying to make is that most people dont know about the free maintenance and the extended warranty. When BMW makes parts a little cheaper, Lexus can kiss my fuckin 330's ass!! |
