My fear is that BMW is sending a signal by putting a standard LSD on the M235 that there won't be an M2.
Also--think of it this way--there aren't any M335 or M435s...but there WILL be an M3 and an M4.... By giving us some of the ///M goodness in the M235 (lsd, higher BHP than standard 335/435), BMW might be holding off on the "entry level" M car. We shall see...

I am more interested in the "tweaking" that the N55 will get for the M235i. I have stated on the forum many times that the N54 in my first E82 felt vastly superior to the N55 that I have in the current one, and I am hoping that it is cured or made better with the M235. The N55 just seems to run out of breath more easily than my N54 did...although none of them could touch the total body experience that came from my dad's 07 Z4MC...but that's another conversation.

Whether it will be a factory, port option, or BMW performance part it is unknown.

not to doubt you since i don't have any independant sources but my impression from what i've read is that the f30 and f20 platforms are based on the new "modular architecture" and not based on previous platforms. am i mistaken?

I'd say we simply don't know yet if one will appear, it certainly hasn't been confirmed nor denied. Same with the M2, except the desire was stated by M to create one. |

the 2011 and before (i believe) 335is used the N54, however the 135is uses the N55 with the PPK2 kit installed by BMW.

I remain hopeful for an M2...but when they go out of their way to say the M235 is "faster" around the ring, it just hints at something else, at least to me

I think you're correct that the 135is uses the N54--but that would be my 3rd E82, and I want something that looks different at this point. Love the E92 (335is), but I had two of those in the early days and they are just too big for me... I am obviously high-maintenance.

When you look very close at the pictures of the back from the 2 series on page 1, you can see between the lights and the trunk lid there is a similar rearlights-style from the actual 1 series coupe hide under some fake plastic trunk lid.
