Why no S65 in the M2?
People keep talking about the M2 being an I6 turbo? Why does it have to be this way? The S65 fit into the 1 Series M coupe just fine, and I think it would be an epic setup, even though I know that it will probably share a de-tuned 2015 M3 engine.
Wouldn't everyone else like to see the car this way?

I like the S65, it sounds great. But in the heavier E90 that I've looked at numerous times, I personally can't get past the 14/20 mileage rating. I know a turbo four or six would be unlikely to get any better mileage at the track, but will likely clobber that rating in daily driving. With fleet mileage standards I think the days of the M5 getting 10/16 and the M3 getting 14/20 are likely to not be seen again.

I think still that there might be little possibility, that they considering naturally aspirated choice. Porsche is good example, think back that 997 turbo use same basic layout that Gt3 models, so it is possible even on small production numbers. M2 also will be ligher than M3, lighter means less fuel consumption and turbocharging might be not necessary, of course hybrid technology come also cheaper. Porsche 918 spyder 70g/km is incredible accomplishment. |

Four letters: CAFE
Corporate Average Fuel Economy requirements pretty much make smaller displacement turbocharged engines the wave of the future.
