anybody have this happen...
car was warm been sitting awhile and as i left parking lot car under light throttle in first let out a backfire and i drove home never went into limp mode but would not allow me to accelerate past 1/4 throttle...

Charge pipe failure. Very typical. Let me guess: hovering around 60K miles? Replace with aftermarket metal version (there are many options) and never have a failure again.

45k miles , its the pot metal not plastic exhaust system i believe
i did a quick fix caus i had about a 4" duct clamp
so far so good till i can find out from the shop where i service it

That has to be the most common N55 failure point. I can't imagine anyone's stock charge pipe lives much past 60-70k miles if they drive even somewhat spirited now and then.

Blown chargepipe. Take a look at the VRSF one. It is metal and will prevent this from happening in the future.

There are a few threads on the forum for how to install if you want to do it yourself. I did mine, took a couple of hours and was a pain in the ass at some points. Goodluck!

Well, now I know what to do when I hear that big pop.
Still just over 50K miles, so not yet in the red zone, but I may take it into my indy shop and have them do the job preemptively.

not sure when it will go, i assume many never let go,but i was under light throttle and it sounded like a backfire in the chargepipe near the throttle body, it is pretty intensive labor, unless you have a lift. but i'm 75 yrs old and am not doing those types of jobs anymore

actually my "temp fix "lasted a few days and 50 miles till i got it replaced....of course i only used about 1/2 throttle to be on the safe side..
