Anyone thinking of trading their M235i for an M240i?
As the title asks...

Probably one of the dumbest things a person could do in my opinion. You'd be losing $$$ on depreciation to get the HP that a $300 stage 1 piggyback could accomplish.

Thinking about it when my lease is up in 2018 after the LCI. Considering the M2, but not sure since there are more options with 240, and not much difference in performance, especially if a PPK and performance exhaust are available like on the 340. I won't be going to the track.

I've learned to be happy with what I have not worry about the latest and greatest or having the fastest variant. Also, while the B58 sounds great on paper, it's still a bit too new for me to get comfortable with from a long-term ownership perspective. The B58 has some questionable component features which are a bit scary in the event they were to fail. All the ills in the N55 were addressed long ago and is generally an easy motor to work on and service, as compared to the N54 or the B58. As a DIYer, that is preferable.

N55 has been proven to be a reliable engine. I think buying the first year car of any new engine is a bad idea imo. Plus a watercooled intercooler sounds like a potential headache.

just take a look at some of the vids on this thing... its running 12.8 @ 110 stock and seems to be OK with a JB4 tune. (running even faster) coming from the Mustang crowd the air to water is the BEST... and proven over and over again The M240 is going to be a little Rocket stock... just wait |

That said, I don't see any reason to upgrade from a 235 to 240 for just a few extra ponies the arse won't feel. |

The 340 with heavier weight is matching the existing M235i with identical head-to-head times.

when it works its way into the m2, Ill consider it, but honestly the chassis will be old by then and the interiors at bmw's are already horribly outdated.

BMW interiors are always outdated!
Overall, BMW has always been one of the least innovative car makers around, outdone only by Porsche, using the same rear flat engine design since the beginning of time and pretty much the same overall look and feel on the 911 for going on 50 years. I don't hear complaints, though. Same with BMW for me. I am happy to leave novelty to others. Rembrandt didn't change his style much either, once he found it. |

I don't see much point in trading for very little real gain.
