Just put down deposit to order 2021 230i MSport

....to replace my 2017 230i. Excited!

Mineral Grey Metallic
719M 18" Bi-color wheels, non-runflats (I have 17" runflats on my 2017)
Black Dakota Leather
Fineline Wood
Premium Package
Harman Kardon

It seems like everything is pretty simple. My dealer says there really aren't any decisions to make beyond the online configurator.

Is there anything extra I should be asking about?

I did ED last time; so glad I did. Haven't decided about PCD. It's an option but I might skip if it slows delivery.

I don't know when my production week might be yet. I suspect it's going to arrive in February at this point.

We did both Welt and PCD with our F31 '14 328 xDrive SportWagon. Can't do the Welt delivery any longer; PCD was worth the 1-2 week delay IMO. You drive a car similar to yours..free hotel stay with dinner and breakfast on delivery day, their car, their gas & tires...YOUR FUN! Should you decide on PCD, tell your advisor ASAP as it may affect your initial port of delivery in the U.S.
Enjoy your new BMW!

Futureproofing. I like what I have and I want this identical driving experience (analog tach, etc.) in five years, when this model is no longer made.

I can certainly see your point....I'm not crazy about the new exterior styling trend and very much like the "classic" 230/ 240 inside design, dash, CD player etc. I pulled the trigger last year on a 230i...suspect perhaps your current 2 series may be a lease??? Enjoy your new 230!

I decided against the PCD since you can't get the full package right now as factory tours are still closed. On the plus side every new car ordered and delivered in 2020-21 comes with two certificates for the track experience at Greer anyway. It does add time to your delivery and the middle of winter is not the best time to do it.

Congrats! I'm replacing a 2015 228i (Dinan Stage 1) with a 2021 M240i (should hopefully reach dealer EOW). I do recall reading that the 228i was a good balance compared to the M240i's raw power. But I've already had two 4 cylinder BMWs and decided to just go for the 6 this time.

I did ED back in 2012 (328i) - it was a blast. Wish I'd been able to do it again in the ensuing years, but ah well. I was able to do a BMW autocross event for the 2 series back in 2015 - I basically ordered my 2 series a couple days after that experience

That article along with my own back-to-back test drives of a M240 and 230 helped solidify my purchase decision...but to each their own as they say. The 2 series is a winner all around

Did you go with the base or MSport? runflats? Interested from a ride and handling perspective.

Amazingly, they got mine built before the lockdown in Germany. And it made it to the port. But I have a feeling it's going to sit there until mid-January.

I did MSport and non-runflats. I have to confess a little anxiety. The 17" wheels and runlets and regular suspension have been very supple and forgiving over bumps and expansions strips. Very impressive. But I do want more stability, road feel, and control this time. Hopefully I'll like my new choice.

You'll probably be on the same ship as some of us. My 240 was finished the week of Thanksgiving and won't leave the port until after the New Year - I'll be on the Horizon Highway, which just left Charleston like a week ago; it's supposed to arrive at Zeebrugge around 12-28/1-1. Pretty unfortunate, they had to cancel my PCD reservation and won't schedule a new delivery until the car is stateside.

I found a unicorn example of a leftover '19 230i xDrive with the then available Track Handling Package so it came with the 18" staggered MPSS tires...along with a separate set of 17" BMW wheels with RF Continental BMW spec TS-830 winter tires...guess which are on the car today? Hint: Snow flurries outside and temps dropping like a rock to single digits overnight. I still can't believe the dealer ordered the car for inventory with two sets of wheels/tires...and they said it was NOT a failed deal, customer-ordered car.

I am very happy with the MPSS summer tires and the RF nature of the Continental winter tires makes them a bit more stable than a lot of winter tires.

Unfortunately, you can no longer spec the Track Handling Package on the 230i but that was a deal point for me. I enjoy the adaptable suspension settings and all around better handling capabilities. I had the MSport package on our previous F31 Sportwagon...seems the MSport package "today" is mostly all cosmetic albeit the MSport steering wheel is nicer than the standard wheel. That along was not enough for me to spring for the MSport option this time.

That's news to me. I have a production number and am planning on doing the PCD hoping that things will open more by spring.

It may be it will be better by then but be aware your delivery will be delayed to allow for a PCD. Often by two to three weeks over what a dealer delivery is.

Yep same boat. She's been at anchor SE of Southampton since the 8th, hasn't actually made it to that port.

I love having my M240 but I do miss the "chase" of the ship that brought her to me.

Mine arrived this weekend. It's a joy to drive. Nimble, agile, more fleet of foot than the 240xi I drove with A/S RFTs before putting my order in. Alpine white, oyster/black Sensatec with wood, MSport with staggered non-runflat performance tires and 155 mph limiter, manual transmission, heated seats, black grille surround delete.

More cosmetic on the 230xi. With the 230i MSport gives lowered ride height and MSport suspension.
