Honestly, it's worth a shot. The bumper can be pulled out a lot more than you initially think. I'm used to having to remove the entire bumper to swap the grills on my old car, a Volvo C30. THAT was a pain.

There was barley a 2" gap when I undid mine. No chance of getting my arm in.

You can definitely make much more than a 2 inch gap, trust me. You have to pull the bumper up and out after you slide it out of the slot it's in. I had my friend hold it in position, but I probably could have done it by myself.
