Most BMWs come with a top speed limiter. For example, on the original 135i, for cars configured without M-sport, the limiter was 130 MPH. With M-sport, it was bumped to 150 MPH.

I have no idea whether the claims in those posts are correct or incorrect though. It'd be pretty interesting if opting for all-season tires removed the top speed limiter altogether.
