It's designed for homologation racing, and it's not even coming to the US. The intent is for it to compete in the VLN Endurance Championship and the Nrburgring 24 Hours on the Nrburgring-Nordschleife[1].
You can look down your nose at it all you want, but so far, it's looking like a pretty stellar deal for someone looking to go racing. The price is extremely cheap for a homologation car at 59,500.00.

That's about $81,000 I think this a great price for a ready to go track vehicle. Purchasing and converting a M235i would be more expensive and not BMW Motorsport built. Again considering a Porsche 991 Cup is $250,000, this is a good deal.
