Yes, of course. And I'm sure BMW exec's have been trying to kill the manual for a while. Especially because high performance cars from Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche (GT3) don't offer a manual anymore. It's only a matter of time. It's an old technology fitted to an extremely modern car.

Don't get me wrong - I'll continue to buy a stick for the rest of my life. It matters more to me than any other aspect of a car (seriously). When BMW eventually does away with it, I can only hope another manufacturer continues the tradition.
