I do not believe BMW to be that reactionary. I certainly don't see them building an M car in response to existing market offerings from the competition. If there will ever be an M2 (yes), it has most likely already been approved and is being tested as we speak in preparation for its launch next year. These cars are planned years in advance. Design, development, testing and eventual production and approval of these models can take years!
