It IS an uninsured motorist claim... Your deductible can vary, however typical deductible for such an event is $250... BY LAW, you ARE NOT AT FAULT, therefore CANNOT raise your rates.

Thank you, and have a good day sirs.

Hopefully the OP will follow up, and if he meets the criteria and follows through you all would have just received a free insurance lesson, and he gets his car back to perfect, or as close as possible.

Look at your policies, call your insurance companies. This is a VERY common mistake people make and the insurance companies love it.

If you have a couple bucks in your pocket it's usually pointless to drive in any vehicle that's damaged by a hit and run.

I feel you folks are thinking it was damaged by a hammer, baseball bat, work boot... That would be a comprehensive claim... Completely different.

Take care.
You are sort of right - but in order to get Uninsured Motorist it would require a police report - at least it does here in Oregon. The only way this would be a Comp claim is if the object is airborne and it looks like lateral damage so it is most likely going to be a COLLISION claim.

But regardless, it's not worth filing a claim over this.
