The m235i is a m performance model just like the 335is was or the 135is etc. Therefore I don't think that comparing the price differences between 335i and m3 or m4 vs 435i is accurate. I've calculated that the price of a 328i is about 61% of the price of the M3 and and the 428i is about 64% of the M4. If we use that logic with the price of the m2 compared to the price of the 228i we're going to get a MSRP with metallic paint between $51,650 to $54,180 probably closer to the 54k mark that would keep the price of the car with a +/-9.5k difference between the m235i and the m3.
