Yes, PCF-08's or Carbotechs or Porterfields are better race pads, absolutely, but they cannot be driven on the street. These can be (quite comfortably). And they will stand up to some seriously heavy abuse on track with the right brake fluid (I run Torque RT700, but any high temp fluid will do -- ATE, Gastrol, Endless, etc.).
Also, they aren't terribly expensive. Highly recommend.

I think the yellow stuff would be OK for autocross, but i would not recommend them for a road course event.
I'm talking purely from a pad fade perspective.
