The $32,500 is after negotiations. I checked Manheim auctions and last week one sold for $32,250 same mileage so only a couple hundred over wholesale.

I'm pushing for them to give it up for $32,000 even.

Is the market poised to move drastically downstream in the coming months?
If it's got the red interior, it also has leather, so a ~51k MSRP car. If it's really clean than I would go for it if that's what you want. Sounds like a very reasonable price.

Is the market going to move downstream? Hard to tell but BMW residuals on new 2-series seem a little lower now than they were 2 years ago. I know BMW manipulates the residuals to move cars, but it's one of the data points that can be used to predict future market performance.

Look at current 2014 m235i private party selling prices for a rough estimate of what your car will be worth a year from now. There is a m235i now on this site where the seller is try to get $28,XXX for a 2014 with 35k miles that had a similar MSRP to the one you're looking at when new.
