I believe that the only time the torque converter comes into play would be starting off in 1st as I believe ZF8 can change gears with the torque converter locked up. The only real parasitic loss would be the tranny pump and the shift times being slightly slower than DCT. I'd have a hard time paying anything more for a DCT over the excellent ZF auto. That said, I'm a 3 pedal kind of guy.
