Car manufacturers have taken to the Apple/Mobile phone model for their enthusiast lines by releasing newer better cars every year or two. They know they'll sell, so why not.

Also Porsche, look at all the people who paid and waited for a 911R, then they (not officially yet) put out a 991.2 GT3 with a manual. A little backwards in that example, but considering the price people are paying for the R (or did anyway), it's pretty dickish, if it ends up being true.

And McLaren. "We'll only make 500 675LT's, coupe only" Then they a) don't number them, and b) release "500" more spiders. Then special editions for Chinese customers. And the P1 GTR, which will never be road legal. Then they have the LM upgrade available (maybe not officially through them though).

And on and on...
