As someone who has logged dozens of hours in each, I can say that they are not anywhere near eachother. Everything you touch in the M235i feels more solid and refined than the VW. When you drive in them back to back, the differences are extreme and really jump out at you. Simples things like the feel of the steering wheel, or just pushing the turn signal lever. And the seats? My goodness, quite a difference.
I like VWs, a lot actually, but the interiors are just miles apart.
