The above makes perfect sense. I could have bought the M2 (w/o any mark-up a year ago) or a discounted M240i (special order to my spec) and went w/ the M240i for it's near equal straight line performance to the M2 w/ a more civilized ride.

Like GM does w/ the Corvette, they offer a Stingray, ZO6 and now a GS, but throw in a Carbon 65th anniversary addition.

The BMW performance addition will appeal to some to sate their personal tastes. For me, personally, While the looks fine, I'm not really after many of the add-ons. The base M240i looks suit me fine.

NOW, if the M Performance edition had the body of the M2 w/ the M240i under-pinnings, I'd be all over that car. To me, the M2 looks great w/ the flared rear fenders and aggressive nose. In fact I was close to pulling the trigger on the M2 on it's looks alone.

How cool would that be?
