Afik, this tire/wheel protection is not universally offered with any other car maker. We all know the runflats are to blame. They sidewall bubble with moderate impact and are supposed to be scrapped after any puncture. I suppose there would be room for a spare if the battery was in the engine compartment.
If no one noticed, the 2016 x1 offers non runflats as a no cost option, and the spare for a reasonable $150.
